¡Hola! Soy Theresa    (Hi! I'm Theresa)

I'm not the best at taking selfies, but here's one I took with our dog Oso.

Meet Theresa,

the Executive Director

With a rich background as a PK-8 school principal, Spanish immersion teacher, and ESL educator, I’ve worn many hats in the world of education. Today, I’m a passionate Spanish language consultant, teacher trainer, author, and curriculum creator—constantly exploring new ways to make learning fun and effective. As the host of my own video show and an entrepreneur, I’m dedicated to inspiring educators and families. When I’m not working, you’ll find me traveling the world with my family, volunteering at my Church, enjoying life as a mom, wife, and dog owner. There’s never a dull moment!

I’m the Co-Founder and Executive Director of OLA, proudly serving schools and families since 1991. With decades of experience, I empower childcare centers and elementary schools to confidently introduce Spanish into their curriculum—eliminating the guesswork and stress. Through my business, curriculum, and online programs, I deliver practical, engaging solutions that make teaching Spanish simple, effective, and a joy for everyone involved!

I 'm a life-long learner!

With a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish, a Master’s in Second Languages and Cultures Education, and a K-12 Principal’s Licensure from the University of Minnesota, my journey in education has been both enriching and rewarding. I also hold K-6 elementary and K-12 licensures to teach Spanish and English as a Second Language, bringing over 30 years of experience teaching students of all ages and leading schools. One of my greatest passions is mentoring teachers in creating positive, dynamic classroom environments where students thrive—and where learning feels like magic!

My Bilingual Family

I’m incredibly grateful to be married to my wonderful husband, Jim, with whom I’ve shared 28 years of adventure. Together, we’ve raised two amazing children, Neill and Ellie, in a bilingual home—English and Spanish. In 1991, Jim and I co-founded O'Neill Language Academy, a name that holds deep personal meaning. "O'Neill" is my maiden name, and the acronym "OLA" is a playful nod to the Spanish word for "hello"—without the "H." It’s a fitting symbol of how we’ve brought language, connection, and joy to schools and families for over three decades!

My husband and I raised our kids in a bilingual home from birth. They speak English & Spanish!

As a family, we love to travel and explore new adventures together. These photos were taken during our most recent trip to Spain, where we had the joy of attending our niece's beautiful wedding. It was an unforgettable experience, filled with quality time with family, the rich Spanish culture, and memories we'll cherish forever.

One of My Passions

One of my favorite things to do is entertain at home. My husband and I enjoy cooking together, experimenting with new recipes, and creating memorable dining experiences for our family and friends. This past New Year’s Eve, I took on the challenge of making Crème Brûlée for the first time, while my husband expertly crafted Beef Wellington. I must admit, both dishes turned out absolutely delicious—a perfect way to ring in the new year with loved ones!

I also love cooking Spanish cuisine—these delicious croquetas are a perfect example of authentic flavor!
